LOUISVILLE & JEFFERSON COUNTY METRIPOLITAN SEWER DISTRICT: JDQ began working for MSD in 1975. We have taken projects from the conceptual stage through to completion of design (there was no inspection of the work since MSD provided their own). Projects have included small and large interceptor sewers and collections systems. Projects included: Kramers-Crums Lane Interceptor Sewer This project was designed in 1975 and consisted of 11,464 feet of gravity sewer of 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 21, 27 and 30 diameters. The sewer ran primarily through developed property. Work also included easement plats for the entire project. 2. Kramers-Crums Lane Collector Sewers - 18,500 feet of 8 sewer was designed for this project in 1975. Again, the preparation of numerous easement plats was required for the sewer through existing development. 3. Southern Ditch Interceptor Sewer This project was originally designed in 1977 and was redesigned in 1987. It involved 7,202 feet of primarily 66 and 36 sewer. There was a tunnel crossing of I-65 just south of its intersection with the Outer Loop for the full-length width of the I-65 right-of-was. 4. Southern Ditch Collector System Designed in 1992, this system involved 32,813 feet of 8 sewer to be installed in a completely developed area. Many easement plats were required. 5. Friendly Hills Interceptor and Collector System This system was designed simultaneously with the Southern Ditch system and included 42,774 feet of 8, 10, 12 and 15 sewer with numerous easements. 6. Glencoe Interceptor Sewer This interceptor was designed in 1995 to open an undeveloped area up and top drain and existing sewage treatment plant. It contained 5,751 feet of 8 and 10 sewer. The sewer was entirely on private property and required easements for virtually its entire length. CITY UTILITY COMMISSION: (Corbin, Kentucky): Sanitary sewers were relocated as a part of the reconstruction of U.S. 25W. The work involved routing the new sewer on limited highway right-of-way in order to avoid having to acquire easements. The sewer construction had to be planned and sequenced in order to keep customers in service during construction along the 2.6 mile section of roadway. 13,625 feet of 8, 10, 12 and 15 sewer was installed in1997. JDQ was also responsible for construction inspection form beginning to end.
REGIONAL WATER RESOURCE AGENCY (formerly the Owensboro Sewer Commission): JDQ first began work for the RWRA in 1956 providing construction inspection for Owensboros first primary sewage treatment plant and large trunk sewers. Since then, we have designed miles of sanitary sewer and many pumping stations. Our most recent project is the extension of an 8-inch sewer necessitated by the reconstruction of U.S. Hwy. 231. JDQ provided plans and specification for this work along with construction inspection. One other recent project was the redesign of an existing pump station and the redirection of a force main that allowed the elimination of a package sewage treatment plant on the west side of the City. |
