Many bridges and culverts have been designed in conjunction with highway projects. The Ramp B Bridge over US 23 near Pikeville, Kentucky was the winner of the 1988 Prestressed Concrete Institute Professional Design Award. It is a 381 foot long bridge on a 10 degree horizontal curve with 12:1 superelevation. A part of the Pikeville Model Cities Project relocating the Big Sandy River through a mountain to alleviate flooding in Pikeville, it was built on a rock bench above the river.

Other bridges range from small single-span county bridge replacements to multiple spans, like I-55 over the Sangamon River in Springfield, Illinois, to studies for long, high bridges – KY 90 over Lake Cumberland, 800 feet long and 150 feet high.
