CONSULTING ENGINEERS / LAND SURVEYORS / ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Providing Quality Civil Engineering Services Since 1936

MID-AMERICA AIRPARK, OWENSBORO, KY:  JDQ has been involved with this industrial park since its inception, initially in the preparation of boundary surveys. Preliminary lot divisions have been prepared on short notice for prospective clients, as well as providing available soils and floodplain information.  JDQ has been very responsive to the needs of Industry, Inc. in preparing information for prospective clients. Our firm worked closely with the Airpark planner to fine-tune drainage and utility designs as the airpark expanded, and to develop roads that connected with the new Carter Road project. 1996-2000.

JDQ has continued to support the Mid-America Airpark and its clients by providing timely Engineering Services, as the next three examples indicate:

UNIFIRST, INC., MID-AMERICA AIRPARK:  JDQ performed site surveys, road and parking lot design, sewer and water line design, drainage and terrain landscaping design and extensive building and site layout services.  The site includes 30 acres, was the Mid-America Airpark’s first major industry and is UniFirst's prime plant to service the Midwest. 1996-1997.

DANA CORPORATION, MID-AMERICA AIRPARK:  JDQ performed site surveys, civil site design and construction material testing services for this auto and truck frame manufacturing plant in the Owensboro Airpark.  The site encompasses 40+ acres, and our design work included roads, parking lots, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water lines, fire-suppression system supply lines, and drainage design, including stormwater detention.  JDQ has continued to work with Dana as they have expanded their parking lot and manufacturing facility buildings. 1997-2000.

WEST IRVING DIE-CASTING, MID-AMERICA AIRPARK:  JDQ performed site surveys, civil site design and layout, and construction material testing services for this light industry. 1998-9.

TOYOTETSU MIDAMERICA:  JDQ performed site survey providing initial topographical plan of 40±  acre site.  JDQ provided civil site design, construction material testing and construction staking for this automobile parts plant.  Design work included interior roadways, parking lots, storm drainage and storm water detention.  2001 - Present

JDQ has provided Industrial Park Development Layout and Design for these Sites:

HANCOCK COUNTY RIVERPORT:  JDQ has been an active part of the development of this Riverport industrial facility providing civil engineering site design and layout experience, surveying services, and plans for tract divisions, railroad spurs, roadways and utilities. 1998-2000.

OWENSBORO RIVERPORT:  JDQ participated in the development of the Riverport and has continued to perform civil engineering, site design, surveying and inspection services since the 1970's.  This work has included road design, port facilities, river dolphins, retaining walls, settling basins, tank farms, warehousing and rail spurs.  The firm has been involved in several industrial site developments within the Riverport, including chemical storage tanks, fertilizer handling and storage, coal preparation and loading facilities, and spec building projects. 1970-2000.

HENDERSON RIVERPORTJDQ served as the consultant for several projects in the 425 acre Henderson Riverport.  The latest project was for preparation of a Development Plan including conceptual water, sewer and drainage layouts allowing for sales of industrial tracts.  The first rail spur, the David Joseph Company site and the first master plan for the Riverport, were among the first projects.  The firm also performed preliminary design work for streets, site utilities, water and sewer lines to serve the port, as well as for Valley Grain Products, a 34-acre site that also included a railroad spur. 1988-1992.

JDQ Provides for the Needs of various Industries as evidenced by the following Projects:

THE DAVID J. JOSEPH COMPANY, HENDERSON, KY: Field surveys were performed for this riverport project to establish original boundaries and elevations of the site, the roadway and railroad spur.  A site grading plan was prepared, including drainage, railroad spur plans and plans for sanitary sewer and water lines.  In addition, construction staking was provided during the construction phase of the project. 1988.

VALLEY GRAIN PRODUCTS, INC., HENDERSON, KY:  JDQ was responsible for the surveying and engineering for a 34-acre site, preparing construction plans including storm drainage and structures; roadway plans; 2600 feet of railroad spur line and staging areas.

COMMONWEALTH ALUMINUM, LEWISPORT, KY:  JDQ was responsible for the layout and design, including contract document preparation, for the relocation and re-paving of 1.5 miles of KY 1957 alongside the plant.  In addition, the firm performed the layout and design of storm sewer and plant entrance modifications.

DANA CORPORATION, ELIZABETHTOWN, KY:  As a result of work done for the Owensboro Airpark plant, JDQ was contracted to perform site surveys and civil site design for this plant expansion, including new parking lots and manufacturing facilities, drives and entrances, a railroad spur, drainage, water lines, sewer lines and fire protection lines. 1999-2000.

LEE BRICK AND BLOCK, INC., OWENSBORO, KY:  JDQ was responsible for the planning, permitting, design and construction supervision of railroad service track for loading platform.

HUDSON FOODS, WEBSTER COUNTY, KY:  JDQ performed the design and permitting of railroad service track and yard.  In addition, the firm performed the site and drainage design for the grain/feed facility.

SCOTT PAPER COMPANY, OWENSBORO, KY:  The firm performed field surveys during construction of an addition to this plant, verifying that deep excavation adjacent to an existing building was not threatening its structural integrity.  JDQ's responsiveness to a critical condition led to a survey crew being on-site every day that construction was underway for nearly a full year.

OWENSBORO MUNICIPAL UTILITIES, ELMER SMITH STATION: JDQ participated in the $150 million Clean Air Project for OMU. Mapping of the plant property was produced in Kentucky South Zone state plane coordinates in digital format that included a digital terrain model of the plant property and also covered the Ohio River bottom along the North border.
