OHIO COUNTY AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS:
JDQ has been involved with this airport since
1994 when plans were prepared for a 1818 foot bituminous runway extension. The
work included runway protection zone clearing, grading, paving the runway
extension and installing turnarounds on each end of the field, installing an
asphalt overlay on the existing runway surface, the apron area and the
connecting ramp, and extension of the runway lighting system. JDQ was
responsible for all design, preparation of plans and specifications,
coordination and construction inspection. Since the initial project, JDQ has
established the property lines for the airport (in an area extensively strip
mined), updated the airport layout plan, prepared plans and specification and
performed construction inspection for a 6,000 foot chain link security fence
project and prepared state and federal applications for future projects.
HENDERSON CITY-COUNTY AIRPORT
IMPROVEMENTS:
JDQ began work with the Henderson City-County Airport in 1977. Our most recent
project was the extension of the runway by 705 feet to a length of 5,505 feet.
The extension was bituminous and included a turnaround at the end. Associated
work was moving existing REIL’s and the PAPI system, extending the runway
lighting system, clearing the runway protection zone, grading and drainage.
Past projects have included runway and taxiway extensions and associated
lighting, apron construction, a runway taxiway overlay and seal coat, property
surveys, project applications and various other small projects. On all the
projects, JDQ was responsible for design, plans and specifications, coordination
and construction inspection.
OWENSBORO-DAVIESS COUNTY REGIONAL
AIRPORT: JDQ has been
involved with the Owensboro-Daviess County Airport since 1948 when it prepared
the original plans. Through the years, we have provided engineering services
for numerous projects of varied types. Our last project was the examination of
108,000± square yards of existing concrete pavement on the main runway (6,500
feet by 150 feet) to identify weak, cracked or delaminated sections that needed
to be removed and replaced in preparation for a bituminous overlay to be
installed to increase the allowable wheel loading on the pavement. Following a
field inspection of the entire runway, plans were prepared which identified the
bad sections and the areas which needed to be removed and replaced. Our most
recent pavement projects involved the construction of general aviation apron
areas for a lease tenant and the associated taxiways, lighting, drainage
facility, security fencing and access roadway.
