B. WEST, P.E., DESIGN CONSULTANT & QA/QC Project Description: The Consultant acted as Project Manager for the entire
22-mile segment. The Consultant also
was responsible for detailed design of a 9.78-mile segment, which comprised
two construction sections. The Consultant was responsible for: PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Consultant
acted as project manager; scheduled meetings; wrote minutes; provided overall
design criteria to team members to expedite uniformity of plan
development. Consultant provided
specific pavement design from catalog, and typical sections for all team
members. PHASE I
& II DESIGN (JDQ SECTIONS): 1. All necessary field surveys, including check sections, drainage and edge of
pavement elevations. 2. Preparation of grade, drain and surfacing
plans. 3. Preparation of right-of-way plans, including deeds for 5-10 parcels. 4. Design of 6 bridges: I-65 over US 31W;
I-65 over KY 100; 3 minor cross roads over I-65; I-65 over West Fork Drakes
Creek; I-65 over CSX Railroad. 5. Computation of all quantities and estimation of all costs. 6. Producing detailed maintenance of traffic plans, with staged construction notes. 7. Producing all general and special notes
and provisions. 8. Preparation
of erosion control plans. 9. Soil investigation (through
Subconsultant). The Department was responsible for: 1. Traffic counts and traffic movements. 2. Pavement
design catalog. |
