Project Description:

 

The project consisted of alternate studies, cost estimates and recommendations for constructing a northern bypass of Shelbyville, Kentucky to remove the through traffic from the downtown area.  Alternate alignment studies were made, grades studied, and Environmental Investigations were performed.  Two Public Meetings were held for the project, as well as meetings to keep local public officials informed of the project status.  Citizen input added the study of two more alignments on the west end, these going through the industrial park.

The Consultant was responsible for:

 

1.  Environmental analysis and report preparation.

 

2.  All studies, cost estimates and recommendations for preliminary alignment.

 

3.  Exhibits for public meetings.

 

4.  Providing proposed right-of-way and utility requirements to the Department for estimates.

 

The Department was responsible for:

 

1.  Providing traffic information.

 

2.  Conducting public meetings.

 

3.  Photogrammetry and manuscripts.

 

4.  Preparing right-of-way and utility

     estimates.
