Description: The project consisted of studying three alternate alignments for
the Preliminary Line and Grade including cost estimates. The alternates began with a common section
on flat terrain, including the channelized intersection leading to Barkley
Lodge and a bridge over a creek. Then
two steep uphill alternates and a cross over between them were
investigated. Location selection considerations included costs, a cemetery,
residential access and property takings, connections to the existing highway,
and maintenance of traffic during construction, especially access to
properties along the existing highway. The
Consultant was responsible for: 1. All studies, cost estimates and recommendations for preliminary alignment. 2. Preparing
a Design Executive Summary. 3. All
necessary field and office work to provide grade, drain and surfacing plans for construction of the project; utility locations, profiles, critical
cross sections. 4. Right-of-Way Plans and Right-of-Way Plans for Utilities and
related services including deed
preparation for the project. 5. Preparing
drainage situations, hydraulics calculations and compiling drainage folders for the project. 6. Contacting
