Description: Studies, cost estimate and
recommendations for adding two additional lanes adjacent to the existing
pavement to provide a four-lane facility for US 68 from Auburn to Rockfield
in Logan and Warren Counties. Spot
improvements were made to the existing roadway to upgrade curvature and sight
distance to a 50 MPH design. Additional lanes were positioned so that, in the
future, new lanes could replace the existing roadway and provide a four-lane
divided facility without additional right-of-way acquisition. Some areas of the project required
building a complete four-lane facility initially and some areas were
sufficiently developed to require a five-lane curb and gutter section. Ultimate design speed was 60 MPH. The
Consultant was responsible for: 1. All studies, cost estimates and recommendations for preliminary alignment. 2. Writing a Design Study Report. 3. Contacting
all property owners. 4. All necessary field and office work to provide grade, drain and surfacing plans for construction of the project. 5. Right-of-way
plans and right-of-way plans for utilities and related services,
including deed preparation for the
project. 6. Preparing for and assisting in public hearings for the project. 7. Preparing drainage situations and calculations and compiling drainage folders for the project. 8. All structure design including three
box culverts and two bridges. The
Department was responsible for: 1. Manuscripts. 2. Mainline cross-sections. 3. Soils investigation. 4. Environmental
studies. |
