Description : This project included two design sections for relocations
separated by several miles of resurfacing and widening (by others). A 3.7 miles bypass south of Hardinsburg
included a 50 MPH design speed,
channelized intersections with turn lanes, box culverts, construction
sequence and rock fill in a fishing lake. The 2.4 miles relocation at Sinking Creek Hill eliminated two nearly right angle curves
and a steep hill section, replacing them with improved alignment and grades
and adding truck climbing lane.
This project included sinkholes,
rock cut, pond draining and coordination with a gas pipeline company for lowering
two transmission lines. The
Consultant was responsible for: 1. All alignment and grade studies for location. 2. All necessary field surveys, including cross
section in wooded areas. 3. All necessary office work to provide Preliminary Line and Grade Inspection
Plans, including proposed
right-of-way. 4. Geotechnical
Investigation. 5. All necessary field and office work
to provide grade, drain and surfacing
plans for construction of the project. 6. Right-of-way
plans and right-of-way plans for utilities and related services,
including deed preparation for
each parcel. 7. Preparing drainage situations and calculations and
compiling drainage folders for the
project.
The
Department was responsible for: 1. Traffic movement volume projections. 2. Environmental studies and design
report. 3. Plotted cross sections. 4. Contour manuscripts of alignment
studies. |
