Project Description :

This bridge was a replacement for an older steel truss bridge downstream from the new location.  Traffic used the old bridge until the new bridge was completed and traffic could be rerouted on the new bridge.  The structure is made up of four spans of 96, 100', 100', and 96', for a total length of 398'.  The framing consists of six rows of Type 4 Prestressed Concrete I-Beams acting compositely with a cast-in-place concrete deck.  The main piers are founded on concrete friction piles as well as the abutments.  Sheet pile cofferdams were required at the piers adjacent to the river.

Seismic forces played a major part in the design of the piers because of the bridge being located in a high seismic zone.  The design was completed in 1984 and construction was finished in 1987.  The estimated cost of the bridge is $775,000.
