Project Description:

 

This project involved preparation of construction plans for the reconstruction of I-70, a four-lane divided highway from and including a diamond interchange at C.H. 9 near Martinsville to an interchange at U.S. 40 at Marshall.  The construction section will provide for raising the cross road bridges and resurfacing I-70 with 12 ½” of continuously reinforced cement concrete pavement.  Slopes will be modified to eliminate guardrail where possible

 

The Consultant was responsible for Design Plans and Surveys including:

 

1.         Environmental Overview.

 

2.         All surveys including centerline location, drainage and section corner locations.

 

3.         All office work to provide grade, drain and surfacing plans for construction of the project, including maintenance of traffic details and detours, temporary drainage and staged drainage structure construction, signing plans, plans for six crossroad alignments over I-70.

 

4.         Right-of-Way plans, plats and deed descriptions as well as establishing existing property lines and ROW.

 

5.         Preparing drainage situation drawings and calculations and compiling drainage folders for the project.

 

The Department was responsible for providing:

 

1.         Aerial manuscripts and digitized cross sections.

2.         Geotechnical investigations.

3.         Surface designs.

4.         Title Commitments and available existing ROW plans.

5.         Sign locations.
