Description: The project consisted of six replacements for older bridges
over various branches of Kickapoo Creek.
This was Phase II work with the
Illinois Department of Transportation furnishing soil borings, survey notes, topo, geometrics, benchmarks, project
reports, aerial contours, ROW plans and plan and profile sheets. Johnson, Depp & Quisenberry
furnished pick up surveys, TS&L
plans and final structure and roadway plans. Five of the bridges were single
span and one was two span. All
six bridges were complete replacements except for two where portions of the
existing abutments were reused. Staged construction was used for each
structure to maintain one lane of
traffic. The framing for the new bridges consisted of prestressed deck beams with overlay. The substructure units
were pile bents. All six bridges were let as one contract
and construction was completed in 1991. |
