Description: The project consisted of Phase I and Phase II Design for three
bridge replacements including approach work. Phase I consisted of preparing a Project Report for each structure. The Project Report included a traffic analysis, hydraulic report and bridge condition report. Phase II consisted of complete design and details for a TS&L Plan
and Final Plans. The two bridges on US 51 in Fayette County
were old reinforced concrete
structures and were replaced with prestressed I-beams and cast-in-place
concrete deck and all new substructure units. The bridge in Effingham County used steel stringers supporting a concrete deck. The rehabilitation consisted of replacing the entire deck and repairing
the existing steel beams and pile bents.
Steel bearing shoes were replaced with elastomeric bearing assemblies. All three projects used stage construction to maintain traffic. The Illinois Department of Transportation
provided the geotechnical investigation and coordination with environmental
agencies. |
