Project Description: The bridge was 1,300 feet long and located in a curved alignment.  This project consisted of complete superstructure replacement for three spans and deck replacement for the other 20 spans.  The work also included repair and rehabilitation of the substructure units and repair and partial replacement of the existing steel girders.  All steel expansion bearings were replaced with elastomeric bearings.  Staged construction was used with the bridge remaining open to one-lane traffic.  The plans were completed in August 1990 and construction was completed in 1992.  This bridge fell in Seismic Performance Category "B".  All bridge seat widths were checked for conformance with Article 4.6 (Minimum Support Lengths) in Seismic Retrofit Manual.  Side retainers were added to all expansion bearings to satisfy a lateral resistance of 0.2 Dead Load.
